Minutes of Pendleton Sportsman’s Club meeting on May 10, 2005

Call to order.  Meeting opened by President Dennis Loftis at 1830.

Approved April’s minutes as published.

Report of the Secretary / Treasurer 

-  Club has 44 members.  43 Regular and one (1) Honorary member.

  1. -   Was noted that the Club received six (6) new members last month.
  2. -   Club Dues as of April 1st will be $10 for the remained of year per the Clubs By-Laws

-  Report current balance of $494.07.

-  Noted that the club paid President Dennis Loftis $70 for the Post Office Box and $450

    for payment of insurance. 

-  Club currently owes no monies. 

Committee Reports:  (Committees to be determined)

  1. a.       Membership Committee. N/A
  2. b.      Programs Committee. N/A
  3. c.       House Committee. N/A
  4. d.      Buildings and Grounds Committee: Still searching for a permanent building. Vice President John Cullen met with Gene Rucks about the place for the club to meet on a regular basis at Range 116.  There is a classroom available at the Range 116 location that the club can use for the regular meetings on the second Tuesday of the month.  Mr. Rucks also mentioned that he maybe able to get a conex box available for the club to use as storage at the location.  A couple of the members are going to visit the location and bring their thoughts to the next meeting and the club members present will vote to move the meeting location.   
  5. e.       Publicity Committee:  Club Patches are now available; Club secretary, Steve Karns currently has them and will bring them to club functions for sale.  The price of the patch is $5 each. 
  6. f.        Game and Hunting Committee. N/A
  7. g.       Fishing Committee. Fishing is still available through Dana Wharf,  for active duty Marines and Sailors on Wednesday and Thursday’s for only the price of license and tackle rental.  Please contact Rob Shuford for setting up an event, his contact information is on the clubs website.
  8. h.       Special Committee. N/A 

Old and unfinished business

- New membership dues collected.

- The Club patches are available through the clubs Secretary / Treasure Steve Karns.  The patches are for sale at the cost of $5 each.

  1. -   Club membership cards have distributed. Members not present will be receiving their membership cards in the mail. If you have not received you membership card contact Secretary Steve Karns at stevekarns@hotmail.com.

- Rifle Site-in days will be scheduled for Saturday’s in June 18th, July 16th, August 20th, and September 17th.  The Rifle Site-in days deconflict with the Hunter Safety Courses scheduled.

  1. -   The Club project of maintaining duck blinds have been approved and the work is going to begin on the 21st of May.  The club members will meet at the Game Wardens shack at 0800 and proceed from there.  Please try to gather 2x4’s, plywood, 4x4’s, nails and other building materials to donate to the project. 
  2. -   The Club projects of maintaining the fishing areas around Lake O’ Neill and marking of the hunting areas have been submitted for approval from the base. Once the approval is received the club will begin work on the projects. 

-  The State Of California Department of Fish and Game will be holding two Free Fishing days this year on are June 11 and September 24.  The base does not require the base license to be purchased for fishing on these two dates.

- The Club still has free fishing through Dana Wharf for active duty Marines and Sailors.  For more information or to set up the event log on to the website, go to Fishing news and click on the link to contact Rob Shuford.

 Guest Speaker, Mr. Vic Yoder Head, Resource Enforcement and Compliance Branch

- Mr. Yoder has set up two days of training for Hunters Safety Course on base.  The dates are June 25 and August 20, 2005.  A copy of the flyer is posted on the Clubs website.     

New Business

  1. -   CCpl Schmitt of BloodyDecks.Com has come to the club with a “Fish with a Warrior” event.  Bloody Decks is a fishing community out of San Diego.  On June 11th Bloody Decks would like for 45 Marines and Sailors to volunteer to go fishing with Civilian boat owners.  There are approximately 20 boats that will take the Marines and Sailors fishing for the day.  Marines and Sailors are asked to bring their own food, drinks and sunscreen, etc. for the day.  Fishing tackle, gas and supplies are all being provided buy Bloody Decks and Noah’s Tackle of San Diego.  For more information please contact Cpl.   2.  N  Next Club meeting will be on June 14th, 2005 in building 25264 at 1830.  In the event of the meeting being moved a mass e-mail will be sent out of the new location.

Adjournment.  Meeting adjourned at 1917.

OPPORTUNITY DRAWING.  Following the meeting the Pendleton Sportsman’s Club Opportunity Drawing was conducted.  Drawing winners who were present received their prizes at the meeting.  Drawing winners not present will be contacted to claim their prizes.  The Club would like to thank again all that donated prizes for the drawing and those who collected donations for their time and effort.
