Report of Secretary/Treasurer:
Base Game Warden’s Report
Wildlife Technician Mike Tucker provided an excellent update of the ongoing effort for refurbishing the Camp Pendleton water guzzlers. Every Monday @ 0900 at the Wardens Office Building he will be leading a work party to continue cleaning and maintaining the existing 22 operative guzzlers that are located in the various areas of Camp Pendleton. The last two Mondays he worked on maintenance of water guzzlers located in areas Delta, Echo, Golf and Hotel.
As a follow-on to last month’s presentation which described the total water guzzler project, Mike Tucker discussed his experience gained during the past week in helping the Mojave Desert National Reserve personnel on a similar water guzzler maintenance effort. They were able to accomplish a lot of guzzler rehab including concrete and stucco repair of the guzzlers by camping out on site.
Recognizing that we can achieve similar results, in early September a major camp-out will be held to repair the 26 inoperative water guzzlers. This project will entail cleaning out and repairing concrete catchments and spillways. The Sportsman’s Club will keep the members apprised and will notify all when the planning is more complete and exact dates are certain.
