Committee Reports
- Archery - Ryan McMurtrey has taken the lead as the new Archery President for the Camp Pendleton Sportsman’s Club. He is active duty military and was recently re-stationed to Wounded Warrior Battalion after a blast injury in Afghanistan.
- These are projects he wants to accomplish for archery:
- Improve the SOI range by putting tires for steps on the steep slick hills and making the range somewhat safer for fellow archers.
- Improve the security of both ranges from theft and vandalism.
- Organize an Archery competition at the SOI range
- Carry on the tasks of the archery instructor: safety briefs, classes and range safety cards
- Putting together an archery course/ class for Marine Units. (There are a couple Marine Units that have expressed an interested in an archery course)
- Replacing/repairing some equipment as needed
- There are many projects I am trying to expand Camp Pendleton's archery field and could use all and any help anyone wants to give. Currently Wounded Warrior Battalion wants to have an Archery program for the marines that are interested to learn archery and possibly go on to the Para-Olympics.
- Wounded Warrior is looking into purchasing equipment for this cause. He is looking for a good place to buy and get good deals on relatively good equipment that is not over the top but good enough for teaching novice archers the basics. Primarily we are interested in compound bows because that is what is shot at the Para-Olympics. He looks forward to meeting everyone and jumping full into all of the Pendleton's archery needs. Thanks for your time!
- Contact Ryan McMurtrey at the below email address for more information and if you wish to help him with the above activities to help create a “World Class” archery organization: Pilotr2413@gmail.com
